Analytical Components & Additives
Determination of crude protein, fat, ash, and fibre using standardized methods of feed analysis. This enables the validation of the declaration as well as the assurance of legal compliance and product quality.
We combine testing for analytical constituents, microbiological parameters, contaminants, and animal species, along with verification of labelling, to ensure a comprehensive assessment of animal feed in accordance with applicable national and EU regulations and nutritional guidelines.

The evaluation of animal feed, and in particular pet food, requires systematic testing in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 767/2009, Directive 2002/32/EC, Regulation (EC) No. 1831/2003, as well as national feed regulations and FEDIAF guidelines. Ifp-labs conducts valid analytical testing and expert evaluations to ensure safety, marketability, and accurate labelling.

Microbiological testing includes, among other things, total count of microorganisms, Enterobacteriaceae, Salmonella spp., and yeasts/molds. The analysis evaluates hygienic quality and process safety. This allows risks to be identified early and ensures that requirements for safe feed production are reliably met.
Analysis of mycotoxins, heavy metals, other contaminants. The results serve for risk assessment and compliance with maximum permissible levels. In this way, you ensure marketability and minimize health risks for animals.
DNA-based methods, such as PCR, enable the qualitative and quantitative determination of animal components. This serves to verify formulations and declarations. At the same time, the analysis supports authenticity assurance and prevents incorrect or false declarations.
Evaluation of nutrient profiles and mineral ratios based on FEDIAF guidelines. The analyses verify whether complete foods meet the nutritional needs of pets. This supports scientifically safe product development and nutritional safety.
Comparison of analytical results with labelling information and feed legislation. Ingredients, additives, and mandatory information will be reviewed. This ensures transparent, legally compliant product information for the market and consumers
Yes. Species identity can be verified, and undeclared animal species can be identified. This is particularly relevant for single‑protein, hypoallergenic and limited‑ingredient products, where species purity claims are subject to regulatory scrutiny.
Yes. We support feed and pet food operators in both Germany and the UK, covering the applicable regulatory frameworks for raw materials, compound feeds and pet food products. This is particularly relevant for brands and suppliers active across both jurisdictions.
