Feed & Pet Food

We combine testing for analytical constituents, microbiological parameters, contaminants, and animal species, along with verification of labelling, to ensure a comprehensive assessment of animal feed in accordance with applicable national and EU regulations and nutritional guidelines.

Feed & Pet Food Testing

An industrial facility processes large quantities of feed ingredients with conveyors, metal silos, and piles of pellet-like material.

The evaluation of animal feed, and in particular pet food, requires systematic testing in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 767/2009, Directive 2002/32/EC, Regulation (EC) No. 1831/2003, as well as national feed regulations and FEDIAF guidelines. Ifp-labs conducts valid analytical testing and expert evaluations to ensure safety, marketability, and accurate labelling.

Comprehensive Testing Approach

We combine the determination of analytical components and additives with DNA-based species identification and nutritional assessment to evaluate pet food in a well-founded, reliable, and legally compliant manner.

Analytical Components & Additives

Determination of crude protein, fat, ash, and fibre using standardized methods of feed analysis. This enables the validation of the declaration as well as the assurance of legal compliance and product quality.

Microbiology Safety

Microbiological testing includes, among other things, total count of microorganisms, Enterobacteriaceae, Salmonella spp., and yeasts/molds. The analysis evaluates hygienic quality and process safety. This allows risks to be identified early and ensures that requirements for safe feed production are reliably met.

Undesirable Substances & Contaminants

Analysis of mycotoxins, heavy metals, other contaminants. The results serve for risk assessment and compliance with maximum permissible levels. In this way, you ensure marketability and minimize health risks for animals.

Species Identification & Verification

DNA-based methods, such as PCR, enable the qualitative and quantitative determination of animal components. This serves to verify formulations and declarations. At the same time, the analysis supports authenticity assurance and prevents incorrect or false declarations.

Nutritional Compliance

Evaluation of nutrient profiles and mineral ratios based on FEDIAF guidelines. The analyses verify whether complete foods meet the nutritional needs of pets. This supports scientifically safe product development and nutritional safety.

Label Check of Pet Food

Comparison of analytical results with labelling information and feed legislation. Ingredients, additives, and mandatory information will be reviewed. This ensures transparent, legally compliant product information for the market and consumers

Tested Matrices Along the Supply Chain

We analyse various feed matrices throughout the production chain and evaluate them within the regulatory framework.
